About

Dr. Blacktop was born and raised in Western Michigan into a family of mental health professionals, where his interest in the science of mind began at a very young age. This led to a career in academic neuroscience (Ph.D.) studying, researching, and teaching how the brain changes function because of drug use. His expertise includes the integration of biology, neuroscience, psychology, physiology, and human anatomy. Dr. Blacktop has engaged in the investigation, mentorship, and teaching of a broad scientific palate of systems biology applications toward understanding wholeness.

At a pivotal moment in his academic career, Dr. Blacktop was gifted with a sudden, unexpected, and powerful transformative process and journey. This emergence(y) led him to begin the ongoing process of integrating his strong scientific background with consciousness. The consciousness link to addiction led to his interest in an integrative approach to both substance use and mental health disorders.

Two fundamental causes of both mental health disorders and substance use disorders (‘addiction’) include early life trauma and inhibited conscious connection. Trauma and consciousness are intimately tied together. Through personal experience and study, it was also discovered that psychological turmoil and trauma are key triggers for emergent experiences, including prolonged bouts of addiction and grief. This revealed that what can inhibit conscious connection can paradoxically also facilitate long-term emergent transformation. This suggests transformation can occur through these experiences and act as disguised gifts and teachers which advance conscious evolution toward wholeness.

Shortly thereafter, Dr. Blacktop taught health sciences as an assistant professor at university further integrating consciousness science. This demonstrated the societal need for Health & Consciousness Education. This lead to the development of Solscience, LLC.

Dr. Blacktop loves to spend time out in nature, hiking, skiing, running, dancing, and committing to various yogic disciplines. He continues to prioritize his own inner work and personal development.

“Life can become an enchanted kingdom when love replaces fear.”

“Society has long valued logic over intuition. Bridging intuition of the heart with the logic of the mind produces a balanced consciousness. This shift in consciousness is now upon us.” “Your cognition is limited but your consciousness is limitless.” “You do what you have to do until you choose otherwise.”
